Are you on a tight financial budget? Proctor-Silex Cool-Touch 22450 can be your saviour! After researching around and comparing reviews for this toaster, this is more than worth its price. Picked as the best budget toaster by Consumer Reports toaster review, this has got to be the best buy.

Toaster Review – Best Budget Toaster

What makes it special? Other than it being at an extremely affordable price, it has a Toast-Boost feature which assures even toasting. Hence, its reliability ensures the uniformity and quality of the toast. No worries of extremely burnt bread! Need a bit of perkiness in the morning? This toaster delivers crunchier toast compared to Sunbeam toaster, another budget toaster.

Great Feature

Fancy a change instead of the usual normal toast bread routine? The wide slots allow you to toast bagels or muffins as well. Put the bagels on setting 5 and it will be just nicely toasted. Made a mistake once too often when you’re in a hurry? There’s the cancel button! The slide-out crumb tray makes your job easier and faster to clean too.

Economical In Space

Economical in space, this compact toaster can be placed next to small kitchen appliances on the counter. Its cool-to-touch exterior does not transfer heat to the rest of the kitchen tools near it. Additionally, this toaster doesn’t catapult the toast unto the floor. After the toaster has done its toasting, it only ejects the bread 1/3 or 1/4 out, keeping it relatively warm for a good length of time without burning your fingers when you take the toast out.

Toaster Review – Some Downsides

There are some downsides to this toaster as well. It seems like the toast cannot get brown even at the darkest settings. I say, just toast it twice and problem is solved. This toaster has wide slots but no long slots to match it. If you have extremely thick bagel, even the wide slots may not be able to fit it. Solution? Just cut it into half! Due to its wide slots, too thin slices of bread may get stuck on the top edge – nothing that a fork can’t free up in a jiffy. This pop up feature works well with normal bread but it doesn’t raise English muffin up high enough to easily retrieve it. You might also need to adjust different temperature settings for different breads too. Just a little hassle, that’s all. Oh, and yes, the power cord is too short. It would be nice if it was a foot longer.

Summary

To be honest, I admire the pure white Proctor-Silex Cool-Touch 22450. For its price, I find it sturdy, well made, very convenient and best of all, easy to clean. Just a few quick wipes and the toaster will look good as new all the time. With the extra features that you might not get from toasters of the same price range, I find it the best buy. If you’re still hesitating, there’s a 1 year warranty. Even if it breaks down, you can still change it within a year.

At comparemaster.com, you can get it at $17. The price varies depending on where you buy it. The cheapest that I found was US $12.54 but one buyer got it at a bargain price of $8 from Amazon. Still thinking?
